2018

retreat Team

We are super excited to introduce each of the people on the "Awakening with Dolphins~Hawaii" retreat team!

Our vision is to make the dolphin and other retreats led by Makara accessible.   It is our commitment to stand out by offering certified sign language interpreters.   While this retreat is NOT exclusively for the deaf, we are committed to providing an opportunity for the deaf community to participate in this very sacred retreat with Makara and the wild dolphins of Hawaii.

Ganga and Tara, Special Guest Speakers

Ganganath and Tara Leel are international spiritual teachers who teach the Universal Path of Truth and Love.

For over forty years, they have studied many wisdom traditions including Vedanta, Advaita, Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism, Sufism, Yoga and Zen.

Ganganath and Tara Leela have been teaching meditation and self-discovery for over thirty years. They have taught meditation to thousands of people around the world and have started Dharma centers in America, Europe and Asia.

Like Makara, their teachings are Universal - non-dogmatic, non-sectarian, non-sexist and non-cultic. They respect all religions that do not harm people, all paths that lead to Enlightenment and all true teachers who are assisting people on the Pathway to Enlightenment.

We are very excited to have them as our esteemed guest speakers during the June 2018 dolphin retreat!

Michael Labadie-Mendes, CI & CT, NIC Master

At age 17, Michael dove into the world of interpreting by volunteering his time to help Deaf friends communicate with others. His passion for finding meaning in people's expressions (both deaf and hearing) led him to work both in private practice and as a staff interpreter, to mentor students and colleagues, and to engage in ongoing training and dialogue for his own professional development.

He brings four decades of knowledge, experience, and skill to his interpreting work.

Kate Eifler, CI & CT

Since living on Maui for the past twelve years, Kate has enjoyed sharing her time between her work as an American Sign Language/English Interpreter, pottery making, and exploring all the wonders of the island.

She has over twenty-five years of interpreting experience with extensive Secondary Education experience, working abroad, and free lancing.
